If you've ever thought to yourself, "Hey, I'd really love a mashup of The Breakfast Club and Diary of a Wimpy Kid!", I may have the solution for you.

I spent lots of time as a child creating fantastical, rich worlds in my head. The one thing I actually ended up writing a story about? A simple recess tradition. My best friend and I loved to create different types of pushes, and we'd give each one a flavor. For example, Chocolate was a simple up and down ride. However, they would get more complex and we'd add things like sound effects, spins, bumps, and even combined pushes. (To read more on this tradition, visit my Once Upon a Time story in the Novellas menu.)

If this project gets off the ground, it would be a published one. If not....well, I'll probably go in another direction. We will see!

Meanwhile, take a look at my introductory character chart. I won't be saying too much other than this, because secrets.

I am pleased to announce that I have won NaNoWriMo for the second time! And while I'm still making some changes, I am also uploading it to Wattpad. Be sure to check it out!

Here is the premise:

You've heard it before: obsessed fan kidnaps superstar. Or at least tries. But that's not the whole story.

Alina has been a fan of Tierney Miller's work for years. From the days she spent starring in Alina's favorite childhood show to her Broadway roles, Alina has followed her through and through. She's even followed her right to New York City.

But in the theater world, all is not what it seems. And Alina's not the only one with something to hide.

I've only recently realized that I sometimes put characters in theatrical situations. I had a idea for a short story long ago about a school for troubled girls who must work together when they put on a play. It never took off, but I put characters in several theater situations before. This time, though, the story took off.

I've wanted to do something different with a thriller for a while. By "different" I mean something that doesn't include a story that's mostly about romantic cheating or something else that's pretty stale. Hopefully you enjoy!

An original character chart for Tierney, one of the main players. I think I have a new favorite way to make character charts! (No spoilers here. Some details have been changed.)

I got this amazing kit for Christmas the previous winter. It's called No Plot? No Problem and is designed to get you ready to write a novel in a month. It has a chart to color in your progress and word count, stickers, a contract, daily motivational briefs, and even---heyo!--gold stars. Highly recommended.

A typical NaNoWriMo scene: my character charts, a comfy writing spot, pudding, and The Daily Woo (a new YouTube find earlier this year).

july 2018- Twelve Days of Dating
Where to read it? On Wattpad, or get a downloadable copy.
What would you do if you found yourself turning 24 and still have never been on a date in your life? (Talk to this writer, right here. Yep.) This novella in progress will tell you. Heroine Lauren will take a job at a bakery and find herself actually having a shot with someone. But they might be taking a new job far away soon, so can Lauren get it off the ground in two weeks?

Why chicklit, you ask? I only got back into the genre recently and remembered how fun it could
be. I started last year with "Meet Me at the Cupcake Cafe" by Jenny Colgan.
This story also takes place at a bakery, and the stage is set for a fun story. Add in a rival love interest of Austin's, nosy coworkers, a connected grandpa, and you're good to go..especially since the idea is partially based on a few of my own issues, such as not ever having dated anyone.
Austin, the guy Lauren meets, is also very loosely based on someone I know; just like Lauren, we met during training at a former job and I liked him immediately. (Chicklit can't be THAT far fetched if love at first sight is a thing, right?) But other random references appear too. We're Red Sox fans in my family. Every time we watch a game, my mom takes note of an older gentleman who is in the stands almost every day. She calls him Grandpa Al. So when I found Lauren's grandpa taking a role in the story, there was no question what his name had to be! Especially because they live in Massachusetts. AUTHOR'S NOTE: The name had to be changed upon realizing that Grandpa Al got his name because it is the name of a fictional TV character, but it was still very fine inspiration.

I also took pleasure in writing about a girl not too long out of college. So many stories these days are about either teens or established people in their late thirties and forties. Where is the in-between? I wanted to represent a different group who isn't really written about. Besides, I know the most about them.

My hope for this story is to entertain you- who cares if "girl stories" aren't great literature? They're fun to read and write, and that's what matters. I wonder if the ending will surprise you. Even if it may seem semi-predictable in hindsight, I didn't see it coming. One of the great things about telling stories is how they just unfold and show you where characters will end up as you write them!
